Notes from RandyDog:
I just got back from FITP. It turned out to be a lot of fun.
The AIDS grove can be an odd place for a party - it’s usual windy and chilly in GG Park this time of year. But today the wind was more or less under control - just at that point where you can play with it rather than fight it - and the temperature was at "oh, just take your shirt off" all afternoon.
Also, last year they took out all these Giant Eucalyptus trees that used to loom over the grove and make it very shady and soggy... so what sun there was actually made it to our bodies!
At the gathering’s peak, Xavier led a sweet short tribute to our lost friends - it is the AIDS grove, after all.
All the flaggers (about 20 I would guess) formed a giant circle, with the non-flaggers sitting together in the middle (so they wouldn’t feel left out... that crafty X thinks of everything!), and we all flagged to Everytime by Lustral. It was touching.
Then he borrowed my motorcycle helmet and "passed the hat" for donations to the Grove sustaining fund - we raised 255 dollars!
