After telling a few people that we *weren’t* having guests over for dinner, I didn’t expect to see folks already at home when I arrived.
In some cases it made sense-- friends dropping off our houseguests and/or materials from the workshops. But as guests continued to arrive, I started to wonder... (do these guys look like they’re up to something?)
Then I learned that Disney had planned to have everyone over for dinner... a nice surprise!
It was after we’d eaten dinner that I learned the real surprise... Disney and Dan had planned a birthday party for me!
I was deeply touched to have so many friends come together and send me well wishes.
Disney’s cake blew us all away. He created a recipe for a sugar free birthday cake, and prepared and decorated this himself. And it was delicious!
The design on top are tie-dyed flags... of course!
And there were cards and presents...
We love presents!
Dan made a speach that really got to me...
And presented me with a beautiful gift--a set of flags made into a book. He’d secretely had everyone sign it, including several friends that couldn’t make it to Dallas. This is *genious* - the book can be unfolded into a set of flags!
...I was moved beyond what words could express.
Thank you, everyone, for this beautiful gift.
