When I first started making silk sets on my own, I wanted to create a spiral-type design, but needed to come up with a way to fold it without help. (at the time, that kind of fold was a two-person job)
So I had this idea of folding the silk and then sewing gradiant lines, which should give a a tiger pattern. I still remember my friends laughing good naturedly at me while I sat at the coffee table sewing silk by hand. They had good reason--I was using plyers to pull the needle through the silk!
(Club Set)
A special friend once told me about a magical flagging experience of his. Part of it involved using a set of flags I’d given him, and his feeling connected to me on the other side of the country.
So I created this set. It’s two *identical* sets, actually. I tied the silk for four flags together and dyed them, creating two sets of flags that were literally connected.
One set was for my friend, and one set for me. Connected again.
(Giant Banger Set)
This set has soft, almost pastel blues, and a light, airy feel to them. The look almost doesn’t match the fact that it’s a banger set, becuase the flags "want to be flown" hard and fast.
But it works. I knew from the moment I first flew them that this set should be Steve’s. He *loves* flagging and the joy he feels when he’s flying hard and fast is clear to everyone.
