Meet the team

First day of rehearsals...it’s
time to meet our flaggers!

I’m here, hiding in some
silk as I often do.

I’m pretty happy with how
the flags turned out.

Here’s Christopher, from
Denver.

Christopher gave me an
amazing amount of support
and assistance during the
Games.

He was also someone I
could count on when my
brain was "full"...which
happened quite a bit.

:-)

Elliot and Marty were the first of
the group to arrive.

They came in from Florida to
participate. They walked onto the
practice field and got pulled into
our first runthrough with the rest
of the dancers -- no direction, just
me shouting out where we were
supposed to go at any given time.

These guys are *great* sports.

After the run-through, the
choreographer came over
and expressed her
appreciation of how good
the flaggers looked.

Marty beamed back and said,
"If you think we looked good
with four flaggers, wait until
you see us with twenty!"

Here’s Ron!

I met Ron last year at
FireBall, where he was
a joyful addition to our
group.

Seeing him again this
year felt like no time
has even passed.

Here’s Tim from Chicago.

A really sweet guy, Tim
was a mainstay for both
the opening and closing
ceremonies, as well as
the closing party.

I really enjoyed the chance
to get to know him.

I was overwhelmed when I heard
that three guys from Dallas were
actually *driving* to Chicago to
perform with us.

They knew this would be something
special and wanted to be part of it.

Here’s Damian who’s been in more
shows with me that I can easily recall.

And Angel, also from Dallas.

Angel just started flagging this year,
and he’s really grown quickly in the
art.

Gabriel is also from Dallas.

I was very happy to have this
group come up and join us.

Christopher joined us from
Louisiana.

Vernon joined us from Chicago,
and was always a happy,
bubbling ball on energy.

Vernon took many of
the pictures in these
galleries, and got some
really great shots.

Here’s Jeannette from NYC.

After seeing Jeannette’s
heart and dedication during
our time together, I will
always think of her as
"rock star".

Here’s Elenore from Chicago.

I was blown away by the amount of
talent and expression in the people
from Chicago.

Joyce is another one our flaggers
that joined us from Chicago.
