How would you describe yourself as a flagger?

extremely aggressive, lots of energy, allows my body to flow with the flags and combine into a whole.

What is it about flagging that you enjoy the most?

the combination of DJs’ music’s climates and my energy levels.

How long have you been flagging? How did you get started?

Since August 2004. Started shortly after Vancouver’s Gay Pride (Rapture). My friend from seattle, who is a flagger, gave me my first set of flags. I did most of the practising myself in front of a mirror in the gym, and since then, I haven’t been able to get enough of flaggin!

What was your first flagging experience?

It was difficult! for some reason, at that time, I just couldn’t figure out how to do it at all. then I finally realized it’s exactly the same way as light shows (I’ve been doing lightshows with glowsticks for about 2 years.)

What was one of your best flagging experiences?

at the afterhours club "the world" in Vancouver, with DJ Rob Hall from Seattle. We matched each other very well that night. Then, he played the very last song for me to go in the center of the dance floor while the lighting guy hand all the lazers, lights, …. pointed directly at me.

Who has inspired or taught you?

many of the flaggers I’ve seen in the past.

What was one of your wildest or craziest flagging experiences?

Snowball 2005.. just recently happened this past weekend at Whistler Gay Ski Week. The place was filled with black lights, including "black light canons" I was going nuts!

Do you make your own sets? Can you describe what kind you make?

Haven’t got a chance to, but i’ve re-sowed my silk flags many times already. the yellow in the center of the circle is going to disappear pretty soon. It’s pretty hard to find silk in vancouver, besides, we’ve never had any workshop here either. Hopefully, soon someone can give us an BIG favor.

Where do you often like to flag?

There aren’t many clubs in Vancouver which provide a good space and nice set of black night for flaggers. The place where I mostly flag at would be my living room. Quite a nice area, but it still need a black light. My building is full of glass windows, therefore, always have audiences from other buildings near the area or down on the street.

What are your favorite types of flags to work with, and why?

Silk flags. They are much lighter and easier to work with. Also, it’s easier to turn and twist and do more combination with.

What are your favorite flagging quotes?

I don’t know if this is actually a quote, but I always say "Keep the flags flowin’!"

What advice do you give to beginning flaggers?

practise the "figure 8" movement really throughly, both up-and-down and side-ways. Once you master that, everything will become much easier.

What nice/unusual comment has anyone said to you while flagging?

Wow!
Woah!
You are REALLY good, and your body looks REALLY hot.
What are these called?
