    Flagger-to-Civilian Etiquette :-)   7 years, 9 months ago · View

Over the past few months I?ve noticed a surge in the amount of people who are flagging. Here in Chicago, Flag Dancing is really becoming an ?in thing? and that?s fine but there are a few ground rules people should observe regarding space and common courtesy. I by no means write the book of rules but we all have to watch out for each other.

Remember there are people out there that don?t enjoy us because of a bad experience. This art is all about good energy and having fun.

What I?ve noticed in many new flaggers (not all) is a lack of respect for space and other people. I?ve recently seen flaggers hit people over and over again because they feel they have the right to be in the space they?re in and they expect the others to just move because they?re in the way.

Know when to say "no" to flagging – If you don?t have enough clearance and especially if you hit someone by mistake. My worries about hitting someone are more about safety, we?ve all been hit by a pair of flags moving 100 mph, and it doesn?t feel good at all. Imagine how the unsuspecting person who gets hit feels (ouch).

       Remember good energy

On the clearance issue, this should be a no-brainer: if you don?t respect your flags you?ll ruin them. Watch out for ceiling or lights and once again other people.

OK, I?m off my Soap Box. Cheers everyone and Happy Flagging.
