Another set in playing with painting the dyes into folded silk. These flags were fun to create, using a simple fold to the shape and then folding them over on top to create the second line of geometry. I did not tie these, but simply folded and ironed them very flat. I then took a custom die mixture I made of Yellow and Fushia (100% mix of each) and that made the orange/red lines and then used the contrasting Fuschia on the opposite side and filled with yellow. The result is a flag that looks like a flame when spun.
These flags are one of my favorite new creations. While flagging at the Amnesia Party Winter Party Weekend, I met this flagger Joey from Miami. He was flagging when I walked in and I joined him on the floor. It took several hours before we finally connected and talked. He complimented my flags and I handed them to him to try. He loved the weights and thought they were the nicest flying flags he had felt (wow). With all of that, and then telling me how old his flags were and that he never learned to make some, he offered to buy some flags from me. I could not do that, so I handed these flags over to him to keep. They now reside with Joey in sunny Miami - a piece of my creations in yet another state. I know Joey will fly withem with love and pride.
