I have started hand sewing my first set of flags. I have weights pinned in place (all rolled into 1 pocket or hem of silk around the corner), and started sewing sort of a blanket stitch at the beginning of the longest weight on the longest side.
How do I incorporate the next string of weights into this stitch? My stitch goes like this: over a weight bead, then around the space between beads (like sausages). Then over a bead, then around the space…
jWhen I get to the 2nd weight string, should I start stitching BETWEEN the 2 strings of weights (forming 2 separate channels for the strings)? Or keep my stitch to the inside edge of the flag, like it is now, forming a single channel for the 2 weight strings? Will they slip around in there if they aren’t individually stitched down?
Or, do I need to sew each string in completely separately?
Also, do I need 3 strings of weights? Borrowed flags that I am using only have 2 strings.
I know nothing about sewing, so forgive my awkward phrasing…
