But I think it can be taken in a positive light. I think the New Year’s party last year also had a similar discount for younger people to entice them to come. The Black Party never seems to have any problem in filling up, it even seems to charge a premium entrance because of the high demand.  However, the White Party (& now New Year’s party) has had quite a lag in attendance over the years. The recent emphasis on novelty themes (like East Village Crowd/alternative DJ’s on other floors/ and gogo hoola-hoopers)
has enhanced its freshness, and the younger folks seem to bring in an extra jolt that was needed.

 

Just my take on this.  The youth discount is not as offensive as any Ladies discount might imply (and that freebie/discount is still going on all over in this world).

Daniel Van Olst is in the city this weekend along with some friends
from Denver and Columbus. He and I would like to get a little gathering
together at Central Park at 2pm.

Last weekend the rain didn’t stop us from flagging! The park provides
the music at the rollerdisco, we provide the color and the dancing.
Hey, bring your skates if you like and do both at once!

To get to the rollerdisco:

Enter through Columbus Circle entrance Take a left at the roadway and
keep walking until you reach the sheeps meadow. Across from Tavern on
the Green. (Chain link fence around a huge field) Follow the fence
around- keep it on your right side- at the next roadway, you are there!

Here is the Information for the Pride Parade and the SWiSH /Wedding
Party Float. These people are fun to work with and totally love the
energy of flaggers and some even flag themselves! If I don’t see you
there- see you at one of the pier dances! This year is gonna be a

WHEN AND WHERE:
All of the SWiSH marchers are called to meet at 11:30 am on 56th
Street, between 5th and Madison.
Everyone should look for the hot pink SWiSH banner.

WHO:
There will be a marcher liasion from SWiSH there to meet and greet
everyone. Don’t yet know who that person is, so the marchers can
take my cell number in the meantime 201.686.9105. (Sue)

DRESS:
Our theme this year is "If you can’t lower heaven, raise hell!" So
all of our crew will be dressed as either devils or angels or some
hybrid of. You guys can either be all angels in white or all devils
in red, or a mix. I’ll leave it up to you all to coordinate who does
what.

The marchers meet our float at 52nd and 5th and then we are all
together for the whole route. We can fit 2-3 flaggers on the float
with us, so your folks can rotate throughout the day. DJ Sean will
be rockin’ it like he did last night.
