The formations in the background are called "tufa". A long time ago, the lake level was higher and these formations were underwater. Fresh water ran down from the mountains in the distance, underground, ran under the lake, and then bubbled up into the lake, leaving sort of an upside-down stalagtite in the lake. Later, the lake level fell to its current level, leaving the formations high and dry.
Cool, huh?
This group appeared and vanished as a unit, but were really quite polite and appreciative. (I got applause...how can I complain?)
Looking at the picture now, I can see a different thought on each of the girl’s faces.
The ringleader was a bold one and had many questions, i.e. "Do you perform? Where? What is flagging like?" etc.
I wanted to let them try it but I couldn’t think of a way to manage giving all of them a lesson at once and still protect my flags, without it all descending into chaos.
Ah well. :-(
Many people claim that Sedona, Arizona has an unusually large number (6 or so) of spots where metaphysical energy is concentrated; some being more yin, some more yang, and others more neutral. Meditation, healing, and insights are supposed to be easier and more effective in these places.
I figured - well, if it’s good enough for people, it’s good enough for flags!
