How would you describe yourself as a flagger?
Im a very fluid flagger
, I tend to flag at a slower pace than most people finishing one movement while other’s have done 2 or 3. It does’nt help that i mostly flag with chiffon. Ive been told I’m avery graceful flagger, but when the spirit moves me I can keep up with the fast flaggers.
How long have you been flagging? How did you get started?
For just about 2 years now i started in December of 06. Ive always wanted to learn how to flag but never got around to it. Then I re-connected with my friend Cesar and I found out he was a flagger and he showed me how to make them. I am basically self taught i watched clips of flaggers online and watched the wrist and fabric movement and mimicked the moves of the flaggers. But I did start going to George’s classes for clarification and for fun.
Who has inspired or taught you?
I am basically self taught but the man who inspired me was a my friend Cesar. He brought me into the realm of flagging and I am so grateful he did.
Where do you often like to flag?
Honestly
, any place I can find the space to. I always have at least one set on me. And if there is blacklight that just adds another level to the experience.
What are your favorite types of flags to work with, and why?
I am a fan of Chiffon flags. Chiffon just has a great flow to it that I prefer over silk. And when it comes to colors I like to play with negative space. Instead of an all over color, I like to have the colors on a black background or surrounding the black so as the colors pop under the blacklight they appear to be floating.
What are your favorite flagging quotes?
Slow Down!!! Your flagging like an angry Lesbian!!! (my friend told me this when I first started learning)
What advice do you give to beginning flaggers?
Once you get comfortable with the space around you, and the flags in your hands. DONT THINK, JUST HAVE FUN!!!!
This very intoxicated man came up to me dodged my flags and grabbed my arms and said "You look like a big, Beautiful, Glowing butterfly" then threw up on my shoes!
