How would you describe yourself as a flagger?

An avid learner…I’m enthralled by the art, and am having an incredible time learning new skills from some tremendous mentors.

What is it about flagging that you enjoy the most?

There is so much about the art that I truly enjoy – the freedom I feel when I’m flagging, the adrenaline rush when I accidentally discover something new. But the biggest surprise for me, and the thing I enjoy the most, is the tightly-knit friendly community I’ve come to know through the art.

Who has inspired or taught you?

Two individuals really stand out – Phillip and Rodger. I am indebted to you both.

This Friday in Dallas – Texas Flagger Weekend begins!   6 years, 12 months ago · View

Wow, Phillip. This is going to be a blast. Thank you so much for all the hard work I know you’re doing behind the scenes to get this thing coordinated. I’m confident it will be a huge success. All this and DJ Wendy Hunt too! I think I’m in heaven.

For anyone coming to this event from out of town, let me know if you might need a lift from the airport to your respective hotels/sleeping places. I’m happy to help with transportation.

Looking forward to seeing all of you in Dallas!

    Hello everyone,

I wanted to pass on the latest information for Friday, May 27, in Dallas.  It’s the start of our second “Texas Flagger Weekend”.

David Knapp will be spinning the pool party at the Sheraton Suites Market Center, 4 – 9 pm.  This is a TexasCircuitBoyz / Valley of the Dolls event.

Next, Station 4 has agreed to make this Friday “Flagger Friendly”.   Everyone who has already registered for the workshops should be on the guest list at the door.  The club is adding boxes to the dance floor, just for flaggers, so we’ll have places to play all night.  They don’t allow backpacks, but they’ve let me bring in a small flag-bag after a quick look inside.  They open at 9 pm, and we plan to arrive around 10 pm so we’ll have the dance floor to ourselves.  “Cruising the Crossroads” is 10:30-11:00, so there may be a crowd for a while–if so, we’ll take turns on the boxes.

Finally for Friday, the VOTD promoter has added a Friday night dance — Wendy Hunt at the Brick, from midnight to 4 am.  The stage is a bit small –  2-3 flaggers at most, plus 2 more next to the DJ booth.  I’ve already spoken with the promoter about adding blacklights to the stage area, and we are hopeful.

Just don’t stay out too late — the Saturday events start at 11 am!

    Hope to see you there!
    Phillip Bryan
