My History

How would you describe yourself as a flagger?

One person referred to my flagging as, "Having big moves." Hmmm, is that like Star Search or what? I try to keep everything in time to the music, and that’s what I hear most from people. I’m always ready to help others, ready to learn from others, still in awe of some of you I see, and enjoy each time like it were my first.

What is it about flagging that you enjoy the most?

I guess it’s giving back something to the crowd that I like best. I can honestly say that it’s never the same when it’s done for just ourselves.

How long have you been flagging? How did you get started?

See my bio for more on this.

What was your first flagging experience?

See my bio for more on this.

What was one of your best flagging experiences?

It was in London, at a club called Crash. The doorman knew I was a flagger, there was no space in the club that night, but the doorman found me at one point, cleared the stage, and asked if I would flag there. I reluctantly said yes, but it was for a crowd of clubbers who had either never seen it before, or had and wished they could see it again. I flagged for a couple of songs and gave the stage back to the dancers.

Who has inspired or taught you?

All of you! Past and present.

Do you make your own sets? Can you describe what kind you make?

In the early days, yes I made my own. I’ve let that pass to the pro’s who you all know. I’m fortunate to have had many sets presented to me by several people.

Where do you often like to flag?

I never flag at home for some reason, so it’s generally only at the clubs and events.

What are your favorite types of flags to work with, and why?

I still love the lame sets for outdoors events (like Sundance), but the 8mm silks, using the standard 3-line weight system, are a pleasure for the blacklight events.

What advice do you give to beginning flaggers?

What nice/unusual comment has anyone said to you while flagging?

I generally hear, "Your flagging is so smooth and fluid…it was beautiful."

    Hi Amy,

I would have joined you, but I’ll be
    going to Miami
to hear Offer Nissim at The Mansion. You should like Anthony also, he’s
    very good.

Let’s talk before I leave on
    Saturday, OK?

    Hi,

I couldn’t resist posting this – decent music from Anthony Pappa

(check out his MySpace page), free admission, free drink, free parking

if you come before 11PM. Come and join me for fun! Details are

below – print out the email to get the freebies above… I’ve been to

Circus a couple of times – they have a cavernous space, with at least

one smaller room spinning different music. Limited black light, but I

was thinking of bringing my collection of black light to spruce it up

    a bit. See you there!

    Hugs, Amy

spintribe website is down   3 years, 4 months ago · View

    Eric and other SpinTribe members,
It looks like the hosting has not been repaid, but the domain registration is good until Nov. 27, 2009. This was updated Dec. 3, 2008. The hosting for the site is what has expired. The contact information for this is Mark Ludwig. Looks like he resides or resided in Honolulu, HI. There is a phone number to contact him, but I won’t post it here. If any of you know how to contact Mark, or would like me to then let me know. Do keep in mind that Mark is or has been paying not only the domain registration, but also the hosting fees related to spintribe.com out of his pocket, so perhaps some or all of us might want to offer to assist him if you value what this site offers to you.
By the way, it was Mark who gave us the Excel Weight Calculator, and Guide to Fabrics that Glow article on SpinTribe.

    Hello spinners,
Hope this finds you well and having a good holiday season.
I’m writing because I just tried to pull up the http://www.spintribe.com site
    and discovered this:
“www.spintribe.com expired on 11/27/2008 and is pending renewal or
    deletion.”
I’m wondering who the webmaster is for it and how it can be kept alive.
This site has been a great resource and hub for our community. I would
be very sorry to see it go.
    Thanks,

    Hey there, everyone!

I kno this is kinda late, but i’m makin’ a last minute trip to Lauderdale this
weekend. My friend’s treating me for my b-day to a vacation down south! Anyone
have any recomendations on what do do while i’m down there? Are there any good
clubs down there that have black light and lend themselves for space to flag?
Any ideas and thoughts would be appreciated.

Hope all of you are well!
