The Bunnies on the Bayou 31 is just days away, and that means that the Houston Flyboys will be again descending on the Wortham Center fountain waterfall to stage a performance precariously perched on the edge of a watery precipice on Easter Sunday.

This year promises to be extra exciting, with the BOTB applying for recognition as the world’s largest outdoor fundraising cocktail party, and media set to arrive to cover the event.    Outside of the Pride parades, it is certainly the largest gay party in Texas.

In the years I’ve known the party, I have yet to hear a single person say anything other than they had a grand time.  It’s the most successful party for a reason, and if you haven’t yet discovered why, you really ought to this year.

On a more personal note, this will be the first time yours truly will not be performing at Bunnies on the Bayou since the year 2000.  And it will be the first ever I won’t be performing in a Houston Flyboys show.  Time waits for no man, as they say.  I will be there nonetheless -  a tad wistful perhaps, but also happy to see the troupe continue to grow and develop as I continue directing it, and delighted by the great company one always encounters on Easter afternoons in the shade of the Wortham Courtyard trees.  It will be an afternoon to remember.

I hope you get to remember it too.

Happy Easter!
