    From Bryan Hughes:

So I am trying to find some black light fixtures and am not
sure where to find them in
    San Francisco.  I am
looking for the standard fluorescent dual tube fixture (in black although there
is spray paint) and the ultraviolet tubes to fit.

    Thanks!

Here in Denver I can get 4 foot double fixtures and the black lights at Home Depot.  It’s about fifty bucks for the fixture and two fluorescent tubes.  The fixture is white which is no bother and I think that the white reflects the light better, but you could spray paint them.  I have four sets in my front room along with a wall of mirrors … for practice and to check out new tie dye … of course … very big grin!!

I always got mine at the Home Depot. Not sure if there
is one in SF, but I know there is a store a little
    farther South on 101

I’m not sure about San Francisco, but here in the East
Bay, I got mine at a shop on Telegraph Avenue in
Berkeley that sells black lights, neon posters, and
    other stuff.

    From Mark:

Not sure which venue to suggest in SF but here in NYC I steal the black lights
    from events like
Dance 208…they fit perfectly in my flag bag……good luck and Merry Christmas
    !

Work off some of those Holiday calories on Monday December 26th flagging to the
    music of
Randy Bettis at Splash. There is plenty of room to flag, dance boxes galore and
    always an
unexpected flagger stopping by to play with the newest set (thanks James)

    From Palm Springs Flaggers:

I bring my own blacklights to events that I attend. It’s an expense
that I saved up for so that I and others could enjoy ourselves at such
events. At one such event I had a set stolen from me and have yet to
replace it. Perhaps the people at Dance 208 don’t mind if you steal
from them, but I do. Please keep this in mind when lifting other
    peoples items.

    Sincerely,

    Eric of Palm Springs

Spencer Gifts sells blacklight fixtures. Last April I bought 2 four-
footers for $24.99 U.S. apiece. They use narrow bulbs, but they work
quite nicely. Usually these fixtures go for much more, but Spencer
    occasionally puts them on sale.

I don’t know if they have a Spencer Gifts in CA, but they’re in a lot
of shopping malls here on the east coast.

Now if only I could find a place to store the darn things.

    cheers,

    George

Sorry to be late in this discussion, but I just got a 52″ single bulb backlight that plugs in at Homo Depot for $22!  I know a lot of times these items can be a local thing, but it’s worth checking out.
