    From drksf:

Sadly my flag bag and 10 of my most favorite flags were taken from me
during the Reunion 6 Pool Party at the Hyatt Orlando on Saturday.
This was a controlled access event and my bag was placed near others
while I took a dip in the pool for about 20 minutes. When I returned
it was gone. This is a truly sad and irreplaceable loss. I am
guessing the bag was stolen for valubles that were also inside – some
money and a digital camera. Those things are of minimal value
compared to the flags – one set I have spun in venues across the world
    - SF, LA, NYC, Fire Island, Miami, Orlando, DC, Boston, San Diego,
Honolulu, Sydney, Bangkok, London and certainly more. Another set I
spun the year prior at the same pool party of picture of which

I suspect that the bag, flags and other things of little monetary
value were tossed; however, in the dim hope that they weren’t and that
someone actually got a hold of them and is reading this, please
consider the immeasurable value they have for me and send them back my
    way:

There will be no questions asked. There will be a sincere thank you
from the bottom of my heart. Each of my flags has ‘DrK’ written in
small black lettering on the long weighted edge at the handhold. They
are all tie-dyed silk, made either by Don Baker or Dino Vanoni and
    several were gifts.

    Ahh, thanks Dino!

Tomorrow (thurs) night, would that work?  That would be great.  One pair that was lost was a pair that you and Xavier made together just before he moved out. . . picture attached from last year at GayDays. . .

I will call if it looks like I can come by.

Agreed.  Just sent the email in the dim hope of retrieving them.  In the end, they are simply flags and memories.  We had a wonderful weekend in Orlando, despite the loss of those flags.  Hope you are well.  I see you weren’t down there.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It seemed like everyone up on the stage was quite nice and didn’t seem to be sneaking around. I think Andy will have some contact info for the other flaggers when he returns from FL. Maybe they will have seen something. My gut instinct tells me it wasn’t a flagger. Were they taken from the stage or wading pool area?

    Hey Fellow Fanners/Flaggers,

I have been fanning for about 6 yrs and have been on this list serv for some time now and have never really responded to any of the postings.  This particular one stood out because I know what it’s like to have someone steal fans from me. I was at Disney and stayed at the Hyatt and was even at the pool parties on both days and saw some of the most beautiful fans/flags that I have ever seen and some really talented guys (nothing compared to me, LOL kidding).  Anyway, It really breaks my heart that someone would steal from another human being. Especially at an event such as Disney. The vibe there was incredible and I saw many guys having the best time.  The reason for my e-mail is this, I stopped fanning or bringing my fans to Venues because although we are brothers of the cloth, there are SO many guys who do it just because it’s cool. They steal from others because they want to get into it but really don’t have the guidance to understand it
fully. They don’t understand the depth of what feeling TRUE Fanners and flaggers get from spinning.  I have have gone up to flaggers at parties and have been TURNED down when asked to use their flags even with them standing RIGHT THERE!  Is this how our brotherhood should be?  I think not.  Look what it has become.  It is a society that we now have to question the persons movtives as to why they want to use our flags and have to stand and watch them to make sure they don’t steal them. Dr. K, my heart goes out to you and as an Atlanta boy, I will DEFINATELY keep my eyes out for your fans because it sickens me that someone would be so hateful that they would steal such cherished items.

To all the true fanners/flaggers, keep spinning if it is truely in your heart. To all of the posers, we don’t want you in our brotherhood, it’s people like you who have caused fanners like me to not share my God given talent with the world.

    Peace and love to all,

    dr. k

sorry so long in responding to express my sadness in your lost flag
bag. i had one pair of fans not make it home in my bag almost a year
ago, but the loss of one pair of fans doesn’t even approximate the
loss of a bag of memories and places and experiences. i know this is
small consolation, but if you are in the mood for a set of fans, i’m
more than happy to make one for you for pride, etc,.

    lemme know.

I have not been doing much of the club thing. I have been on disability since
early may. But getting much better and hope to return to work soon.
