Hey Peggy and flagging community!   Mykel here, I was asked to help coordinate(recommended by Phil Kimball) the flow of the evening with everyone, which will no doubt help Saint’s At Large execute their NASCAR theme for this year.   For those who don’t know me, I am an entertainer and flagging fellow of Axis Danz and have performed at various venues, parades, etc… and was recommended to help out with the “look” of the night. http://www.mykel.info I have probably flagged with you at some pier dance too!   Following is a timeline of colors they would like you all to bring forth to spin and flail that will go in line with the projections they intend to have going up:   10PM-2:30AM green flags
    2:30-4 yellow flags
    4-6 red flags
    6-10 black
10-10:30 white (for the ticker tape throwing)

    10:30-end checkered flags
(NOTE:there’s prime flagging space on the stage next the bleachers.)   Now, my immediate question to the community, does anyone NOT have a color (or a cousin of the colors mentioned)? Start thinking what colors you have, don’t have and what slots you can most fill!!!    I am going to inquire about the BLACK flags for 6-10 slot.   I will see if the lighting will provide something consistent for BLACK flags and  through out the party.   Peggy I have mentioned that you are doing a fabulous job taking care of letting us know what we need to do, what do you think of posting a “color chart” for the flagger/fanners who may not get this email coorespondence in the dressing room area?   Ok if you can folks please forward this communication out and check back in for any updates.
I am very confident ya’ll are gonna work it out!   Best,   Mykel

    To answer a few question….
To gain stage and dressing room access your “pass” will be your
fans/flags. There is no written list this year. You will NOT be allowed
entrance to either area without your “pass”.
As always, there is no charge for using the dressing rooms other than
    your cooperation and
    help in policing the space.

this privilege is to behave well.
I have arranged to have SAL security at the top of the dressing room
stairs all night, however I have promised that we will take care of
ourselves downstairs. Party hearty, but remember that the dressing
rooms are our home for the night.
Thanking you in advance for your help as I will be asking for it!!!

    Mykel,

I do not have any flags that are a plain
color as you mentioned.  Is this going to be an issue?

Why are we being notified of this flag theme so late in the game…does this mean we can't flag if we don't have the right colors/checks. Chris ( who has a problem with authority )

    From Jim ”Juicy Fruit” Hauck:

    While I like
the idea of the theme, I agree it is a little late to start making flags to
    work.

I personally feel if SAL is paying my entry then I am oblidged
to fly the requested colors – but I am paying my way, so I will do my
best to have something that works, but overall will fly the flags I have to
    fly.

Does that work ok Mykel?  I know you are working hard to
making something coordinated, and do not want to detract from this.

Hey Elliot.   I am sure you have cousins of the colors.  Example a mix of blue and yellow when it’s spun gives a green hue.   spin your stuff and see what colors you create, I am sure you have them.   Mykel

Hello Chris who has a problem with authority ;-) .   The theme has been out there for a while.  Someone else asked the same question.   Think about the cousins to the colors that they are asking for.  An example is if you have perhaps a blue and yellow patterned flag, when it is spun will give a green hue.   Spin and see what you have, I am sure you have most colors.    Mykel

Like I have mentioned before,   If you don’t have these colors, work with cousins of the colors they are asking for.  You are pretty much saying what I have been suggesting.   Of course it’s late in the game.  However a bit of color coordination is not a tall order either.   Fly your flags now and make your best guess which ones will fit most for each of the time slots. when you are all together flagging with colors remotely close, it will still work.  No worries.   Thanks Jim!   Mykel

WHATEVER HAPPEND TO JUST HAVING FUN?  THIS IS WHY I SPIN ALONE.

  • Avatar Image dominickcaminiti5 years, 2 months said ago:

I think I will skip the whole friggin event and flag alone at Circuit in Asbury Park.  It’s free and there’s much more space.

  • Avatar Image chris1ofner5 years, 2 months said ago:

If I hadn't already paid, I probably wouldn't be going. This whole color scheme thing is absurd. It was never discussed on SPINTRIBE as Mykel suggested. AND I bet half the flaggers showing up don't even get these emails, so they will be in for a big surprise. I am trying to stay calm, but it is difficult. ALSO the link in your email about your flags on MySpace is incorrect. You put a period after the last number and now the link doesn't work. You might want to  resubmit the link without the period

I’m not going.  I am not frustrated.  Just voicing my opinion of the whole thing.  I’d rather do what I want at a much better venue in nj for free.

    From Jim ”Juicy Fruit” Hauck:

    Folks –

Let’s all just slow down a bit.

First and foremost, as I mentioned, not something I am very
thrilled about.  But we all should not give Mykel a hard time for this.  He is
doing his best to work with SAL and create a mood, albeit at the last minute,
it is still something to try.  We should be thankful that someone from the
tribe is at least trying to work with SAL and to ensure flaggers have a space
    to work from.

Additionally, there has been nothing stated that says you “must”
follow these rules or you cannot flag.  These are suggestions and requests and
not hard fast rules.  We should look at this event as an opportunity to have
fun, flag, enjoy company of other tribe members and party together.  Adding layers
of drama and frustration really do not serve the flagger tribe nor the event.

So, my suggestion, let’s let this thing drop and die.  All that
can be said is said.  If you choose not to go to BP this weekend, that is what
it is, “A Choice”, however no reason to make everyone else feel like they
should have a bad time because of it.

Looking forward to communing with the tribe tomorrow night,
spreading some love and joy, a hug and a smile.

    Cheers –
