Hello everyone! Just joined and was browsing through the wonderful pics and they are just amazing. I recently got into flagging and I am still learning. I did make 2 practice sets of flags using the tutorial I found here. They didn’t turn out bad and actually work well. I am interested in learning more and have watched videos on youtube over and over trying to figure out how the beautiful spinning in the front happens but I just can’t seem to get it. There don’t seem to be a lot of websites about this art so I would love if anyone has any links they could provide or tips would be wonderful. I don’t know of any places in my area that I can even go to do this but I enjoy just flagging in my yard and my living room when I’m not taking out the TV with them. I am in eastern PA and I’m looking forward to chatting and learning all I can :) . Have a wonderful evening all!

Hey Christine, I just started myself and have a set of new flags myself. They work well but I’m not sure how to “hide” the weighting. If anyone has any close up images of the creation process on what your style of sewing the weights in, I’d be most appreciative!

Christine: When I was learning to spin in front, I was told to start with both flags in one hand, doing the figure 8 motion, when you feel you have this down, try with your left hand. Then starting with whichever is your dominant hand, get the figure 8 going, then grab with your free hand doing the same figure 8, then separate still doing the figure 8 but doing like a double figure 8….. i am not sure how to explain it any more than that…. any other suggestions?

Thank you for the info! Neon, when I made mine, I just folded over the fabric and used the zig zag pattern over the weights to cover them up :) Hope this is helpful.
